After School Activities
24 - 25 School Year - Second Trimester

Registration for most activities will close on November 1, unless otherwise noted below.  

Space is limited, and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All After School Activities are open to non-Rockwern families, so be sure to invite your friends! If class minimums are not met, families will be informed in advance of the first class and will receive a refund. Unless a class is cancelled by Rockwern, there will be no refunds.

Monday

  • Choir with Rachel Westheimer (Grades K-7: $95)
    This energetic K-7 choir will practice a mixture of new Israeli music, classic songs, and fun camp music! Students will prepare for public performances at a variety of community events (such as the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo). This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 7 sessions between November 25 and February 10. This activity will not meet on November 18, December 9, December 23, December 30, January 13, January 20, and February 17.

  • Rockwern Report with Jan Tullis (Grades 3-7: $105) - SOLD OUT
    Students are invited to join our video team, which produces a weekly newscast and other video productions. A variety of student roles will be needed: screenwriters, artists, videographers, announcers, interviewers, and video editors. Students may be asked to work during recess during the week to finish production. This will be in the recently opened Symson Audio Visual Studio in The Curiosity Center. This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 8 sessions between November 25 and February 10. This activity will not meet on November 18, December 9, December 23, December 30, January 20, and February 17.

Tuesday

  • Amazing Athletes (Ages 2-5: $143 per trimester, with a $20 annual registration fee) - Register here
    Join our friends from Amazing Athletes for this active and educational multi-sport session. Each class features a warm up, active education, patient sports, and a cool down. Registration includes a t-shirt! This class will meet from 3:15 - 3:45 PM. There will be 12 sessions between November 19 and February 18. This activity will not meet on December 24 and December 31.

  • Rollerblading with Patty Smith (Grades K-7: $156)
    Students will enjoy a fun and energetic hour of rollerblading with their friends! All equipment is provided. This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 12 sessions between November 19 and February 18. This activity will not meet on December 24 and December 31.

  • Painting on Canvas with Diane Woloshin (Grades 1-3: $180)
    Students will learn about and practice techniques beyond what they are able to experience during the school day. Each session will introduce a different medium. Students may also choose to do independent art projects with teacher approval. This class takes place from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 12 sessions between November 19 and February 18. This activity will not be held on December 24 and December 31.

Wednesday

  • WEBBY Dance (ECEC 3 & Pre-K: $145) - Register here
    Instructors will lead a fun and exciting introduction to ballet and creative movement. Utilizing props and age-appropriate music, students will build memory, concentration, coordination, and self-confidence. Students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt and non-restrictive pants, leggings, or shorts. This class will meet from 3:15 - 4:00 PM. There will be 11 sessions between November 20 and February 19. This activity will not meet on November 27, December 25, and January 1.

  • Sports and Games with Patty Smith (Grades K-4: $130)
    Students will play a variety of games such as tag, kickball, dodgeball, and cooperative team-building games which will improve their skills while having fun! This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 10 sessions between November 20 and February 19. This activity will not meet on November 27, December 25, January 1, and January 29.

  • Independent Art with Diane Woloshin (Grades 3-7: $150)
    Students will independently explore a wide variety of art projects, including painting on canvas and architectural models. This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 10 sessions between November 20 and February 19. This activity will not meet on November 27, December 25, January 1, and January 29.

  • Introduction to Pirkei Avot (Sayings of the Fathers) with Chana Wolfson (Grades 3-7: $150)
    There's more to explore in the Mishnah (rabbinic texts)! This Judaic Studies extension class will cover what the rabbis teach us about being good friends, treating people well, looking for the best in others, and more. Join us for text study, songs, art projects, and games that will familiarize us with these teachings and guide us in how we interact with others. This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 10 sessions between November 20 and February 19. This activity will not meet on November 27, December 25, January 1, and January 29.

Thursday

  • Spanish with Rachel Campbell (Grades K-5: $105)
    Join Rockwern's Spanish teacher, Rachel Campbell, for a fun introduction to the Spanish language and culture. This class will meet from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. There will be 8 sessions between November 21 and February 20. This activity will not meet on November 28, December 12, December 26, January 2, February 6, and February 13.

  • Rollerblading with Patty Smith (Grades K-7: $105)
